What's New at Bromley!

Rock-a-Billy, Barbecue and Bargains at Bromley

BROMLEY MOUNTAIN, VT- Bromley’s Sun Mountain Adventure Park asks “What’s more American than burgers, dogs and boot-stompin’ Rock-a-Billy?” Not much, they figure, so they invite you to celebrate the Fourth of July on Saturday the fifth, from 1-4 p.m., with the kick-up-your-heels Rock-a-Billy of the amazing Lustre Kings and a classic, All-American barbeque with burgers, dogs, salads, sodas and beer.

Bromley’s Record Opener Bodes Well for Area’s Summer

BROMLEY MOUNTAIN, VT – If Bromley's Sun Mountain Adventure Park's record smashing Memorial Day opener is any indication, high gas prices and a less-than-stellar economy may actually be good things for the Manchester and the Mountains region's summer business.

True, the weekend weather could not have been much better, with blue skies and temps in the 70s, but pleasant weather does not necessarily a busy weekend make. "Attendance Saturday was about what we expected," said Peter Dee, Bromley's Director of Marketing. "But Sunday was awesome… it was an all-time attendance record day on a Memorial Day Weekend. Monday's performance backed up Saturday and Sunday nicely to complete record attendance numbers for the three day weekend."

"With gas prices where they are we didn't know what to expect," Dee said, "but with such a great turnout, I think we saw area families who stayed close to home, but didn’t stay at home. How many out-of-towners or out-of-staters we had, I can't say, but I do know that Sunday saw close to 2,000 people at the park and for the three days it is estimated that attendance was over 4,000. I can't call one holiday weekend a trend, but I can tell you that I'm a lot more confident now than I was last Thursday."

The Sun Mountain Adventure Park, on Route 30, six miles east of Manchester, Vermont, is opens daily at 10:30 a.m. June 15 through September 1. For a full list of pricing, free entertainment and events schedule, information on group sales, directions and more check us out online at bromley.com.

Bromley Launches Summer Season May 24

BROMLEY MT., VT – Bromley Mountain’s Sun Mountain Adventure Park (formerly the Thrill Zone) opens for the summer season on Saturday, May 24, and kicks into high-gear on Sunday the 25th with its traditional “burger and dog” BBQ and two free live-animal demos by the Vermont Institute of Natural Science’s “Cold Blooded Critters.”

Peter Dee, Bromley’s Director of Marketing, explained the name change by saying that the Thrill Zone name “described our summer operation very well when we were known primarily for the Alpine Slide. We decided to change the name this season to more accurately reflect the truly wide variety of rides and attractions we have for all ages.”

The Adventure Park now features 14 rides and attractions, the most popular being Bromley’s triple-track Alpine Slide and the Scenic Chairlift ride. Also high on the “must-do” list is the Big Splash Water Raft ride, the Trampoline Bungee Jump, a beautiful 18-hole Miniature Golf Course, the Giant Swing, the Adrenaline Zip Line and many more exciting rides. Kids six and under have their very own space in the Adventure Park, with Bumper Boats, The Bounce House and the 24’ Great Slide.

“It is a huge undertaking changing the winter operation into the Adventure Park, but the crew has done a great job and all the attractions will be ready by the 24th,” said Bill Cairns, the Director of Resort Operations.

When newly appointed President, Richard Wiseman was asked what Bromley had planned for the future he said, “We are looking at a number of exciting attractions for next summer. I think we will be able to make an announcement about our decisions this fall.”

The Adventure Park, on Route 11, six miles east of Manchester, is open weekends-only through June 16, then daily through September 1. Hours are 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturdays in July and August. For more information visit www.bromley.com, or call Peter Dee at 802-824-5522

Bromley’s Cueman Passes One Torch and Picks Up Another

John Cueman, President of Bromley Mountain announced that he would be changing roles at Bromley and turning over the reins of President to Richard Wiseman formally General Manager of Camelback Ski Area in Pennsylvania. John will assume a new position as Vice President of Real Estate Planning for Bromley.

John started at Bromley in 1970 as an accounting supervisor and quickly moved up the ranks to Vice President, which was his position from 1975 through 1983. In 1984 John was named President of Bromley and has served in that role since. John was a Director of The Vermont Ski Areas Association and served as its treasurer from 1996 till 2007. John has always had a strong interest in community affairs. He served as a director and treasurer of the Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce from 1984 to 2005.

When asked about his new role of VP of Real Estate Planning, Cueman said, “I will be stepping away from the important day to day operations and turning my focus to moving Bromley’s Real Estate development forward. Bromley’s Real Estate potential is critical to Bromley’s future.”

Bromley’s new president, Richard Wiseman, brings with him a wealth of operational experience perfectly suited to his new post. Camelback is both a sizeable Pennsylvania ski area and a significant player in the summer market with its successful “Camelbeach” water and amusement park. John Cueman notes “The similarities between Camelback and Bromley are striking. I am delighted that Richard has accepted the position. He’s a perfect fit, and I think he will do a great job for Bromley.”

Wiseman began his career in the ski industry in the early 70’s when he purchased Otis Ridge Ski Area in Western Massachusetts. No stranger to Vermont, Wiseman owned property in Newfane for several years and worked at Stowe for three years. After leaving Stowe, he traveled to California where he was the Vice President of Mountain Operations at Mountain High, in Wrightwood. “Rich then retuned to the east where he has been running Camelback since 1993,” said Cueman. “He certainly has all the management experience required to meet the tasks at hand. It’s a change for Bromley, but I believe it’s a very positive one. I am sure that our employees, and the community, will be happy to have Richard on board.”
